Website Promotion Guide
Once you have a website, you need to promote it. This takes work, and is not something that happens overnight. Here are some website promotion tips to follow to get your page up to the top of the search engines results pages.
Web page design
Think about navigation – How many clicks does it take the user to get to what they are looking for? Could this be improved?
Social media links are good to include at the top of each page. Consider incorporating “Tweet This” links into your content.
Content marketing is the art of using the content you produce to engage your audience. Creating a variety of useful content, such as blog posts, videos and so on that will be valuable and promote trust.
Your website should include interesting and useful content. Check if there is enough content on the page to give search engines an understanding of what each page is about.
Google likes the main content to be visible with minimal scrolling. The expression ‘above the fold’ refers to the part of the website that is initially visible before readers scroll down. This can vary depending on the device that the visitor is using. It is good to have a call to action above this ‘fold’. Similarly, make sure there is significant unique content above the fold.
Focus on quality content. Include information that you would want to link to. Remember, the content is the primary reason this user came to the page. If it is not helpful, visitors will leave.
Take the time to read the content on the page and check for grammatical errors.
You may want to add your contact details or embed a Google my business map, on your website.
Branding is important so that people recognise your business from style of your website and other materials. Having a favicon can help – a small logo image that appears next to your website in browser tabs and bookmarks.
Claim your listing on Google Maps, which is now know as ‘Google My Business’. Fill out as much as possible. and optimise your listing for your keywords.
Keywords are the words and phrases that your customers are searching for online when it comes to your business. They are important, so think about which words you will use on each page. Once you have come up with some keywords, you can use them to help your website rank better. Include them in the content, titles, headings, image names, image tags, meta titles and meta descriptions. Make sure your webpages are keyword rich and optimise each webpage for its own keywords.
Submit your website to major search engines

If you do not mind paying, you can use Google AdWords to create an advert which is shown when relevant keywords are searched.
Email marketing is the advertisement of a product, service or brand through electronic mail. It is popular as it can be much cheaper than traditional mail marketing, and can reach a wide audience in a short period of time. Be sure to get permission before adding new contacts to your mailing list. Always include an option for people to easily leave the distribution list.
Whenever you send an email, a few lines of text can be added automatically to the email. These can include contact details, website address, and a tag line, advertising your product, service or brand.
